In 2009, Dr. Lőrinc Járási’s book The Forests of Füzér was published with the support of the National Cultural Fund.

Dr. Lőrinc Járási was a preeminent researcher in the history of forestry in the Zemplén Mountains and the Bükk Mountains. He analyzed forest management in these regions primarily from the perspective of forest utilization, which included the opening-up of forests, timber sales, the role of forest timber assortments, as well as an examination of how the game management and hunting aspects of earlier estates contributed to the development of the institutional and infrastructural framework for planned forest management.

Drawing upon a vast array of historically significant forestry artifacts, predominantly archival photographs, this monograph resurrects a bygone era. The narrative unfolds from the era of the Dual Monarchy, traversing the Károlyi estate's modernization endeavors at the dawn of the 20th century, and culminating in the post-World War II developments in state forest management.
