Welcome to the website of the "Szabó Dezső" Folk High School Association!

The folk high school, named after the writer Dezső Szabó, was founded as an association in 1993; during the 1990s, it focused on issues related to organic gardening, folk literature, and folk culture. Upon its establishment, the school formed partnerships with the Biokultúra Association for organic gardening and with the László Németh Central European Folk Academy for modern folk culture and sustainability.

Regarding shaping the vision for the future, the folk high school aims to serve as both a forum and an archive for complex landscape management, the protection of natural and built heritage, the restoration of historic monuments, and settlement and infrastructure development. The content and structure of the current website provide information and support for this goal.

The concept of a nature park initiated in the region guides the development of adaptive responses to the ongoing pressures for adaptation and renewal emerging in the fields of landscape management, adaptive forest management, the reconstruction and development of small-scale landscape infrastructure, landscape and nature conservation, and sustainable tourism. The folk high school is an intellectual space where expertise and locality converge, and a workshop that provides answers based on the idea of “nothing about us without us.”
