Research on Csontváry's Oeuvre
At the initiative of the Dezső Szabó Folk High School Association—as part of a collaborative effort that went beyond the reconstruction of Füzér Castle, which began in the 2010s—preparations were made for research into the artistic oeuvre of Tivadar Csontváry Kosztka. This collaborative endeavor entailed not only humanities scholars who were dedicated to the project, but also experts in higher art education and natural science research.
Research on the works of van Gogh and Rembrandt demonstrates the incorporation of new scientific findings into academic articles, popular science writings, television programs, and even video-sharing contents. These findings contribute to the public discourse on art, generating renewed interest and a revitalized cultural demand. Scientific progress is thus linked to an international competition in the realm of art and tourism—that is, one that appeals to people who consume culture. In essence, this is a transformed, uniquely modernized creative sphere of cultural-nationalist competition, a field in which Hungarian culture has a stake through the research and dissemination of Csontváry's works.
