It is also a prominent visual feature. The comb-shaped settlement encircles Castle Hill from the south and west. The Castle Hill of F\u00fcz\u00e9r was placed under nature protection in 1941. The village is located in the northern part of the Zempl\u00e9n Landscape Protection Area, established pursuant to OKTH Decree 1\/1984 (XII.13.). The landscape protection area itself was established on the border of the former Aba\u00faj and Zempl\u00e9n counties, within the core area of the mountain range. The entire built-up area of the settlement, which was previously part of Aba\u00faj County, is part of the northern section of the Zempl\u00e9n Landscape Protection Area, as is the region of the Milic massif rising to the north of the village.<\/p><p>In the early 1990s, the local economy in the Hegyk\u00f6z region experienced a collapse due to the establishment of unviable, golem-like structures during the period of state socialism. The 1990s were also the decade when the nature conservation administration, working with a bunch of different civil society organizations, started to expand a lot in this empty, quasi plundered rural space in Hungary. They said it was to protect the environment, but it was really about building an empire. The whole national park movement basically ignored the fact that the low mountain ranges in Hungary were shaped by human management, so they're not some untouched, perfect nature reserve. (Based on the wisdom of that era: \u201cTo establish a national park, 10 pages of \u201cprofessional\u201d material and a well-executed press conference are sufficient. And the local population will bear the consequences anyway.\u201d)<\/p><p>In the context of the heritage conservation efforts at F\u00fcz\u00e9r Castle, the rigid, self-serving approach to historic preservation proved ineffective in promoting the excavation and conservation efforts or the reconstruction work. By the end of the 2000s, the township of F\u00fcz\u00e9r had overcome the permitting hurdles that had previously prevented the development of eco- and heritage tourism on the Castle Hill. This development program was based primarily on the existing infrastructure\u2014in some cases dating back several centuries\u2014whose \u201csoft\u201d development could be carried out in accordance with the principles of sustainability. The renewal of the existing but worn-out local infrastructure\u2014which essentially also serves as a network for nature-oriented landscape management\u2014has, through the reconstruction of F\u00fcz\u00e9r Castle, also become a service provider both for construction work and visitor infrastructure.<\/p><p>Rather than speaking of the selling off of nature or the obliteration of archaeological heritage, we should acknowledge the realization of local plans that have been in the works for nearly a century. Amid the lamentations surrounding the reconstruction of F\u00fcz\u00e9r Castle, the concept was based on the search for and faithful re-creation of authentic historical analogies, starting from the characteristics of the ruins. A telling example is the replacement of the precarious \u201chistoric monument\u201d tent roof of the Gothic castle chapel with a stepped gable-fronted gable roof design typically found in the Gothic church and chapel architecture in Royal Hungary, Moravia, and Bohemia, and even Austria.<\/p><p>The harmonization of historical authenticity with the functional requirements of the modern era is based on in-depth research, the genius loci, a commitment to preserving the atmosphere, and careful consideration of the intended message. F\u00fcz\u00e9r Castle, a legendary and living castle, fosters an atmosphere, sights, and experiences that contribute to the visitors' personal and collective identity. This identity-building process is facilitated by a combination of programs and surroundings.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>ORSZ\u00c1G\u00c9P\u00cdT\u0150 F\u00dcZ\u00c9R
